Q. |
Safety |
| |
A. |
The Auto Gas Conversion Kits have a lot of inherent safety features tested and installed as per highest international standards. It is thus safe in all the ways to convert the vehicle to an L.P.G./ C.N.G. Conversion Kit. |
| |
|
To understand this better certain facts are to be given due consideration |
| |
|
• |
Fixed L.P.G./ C.N.G. tanks are made as per Bureau of International Standards' (BIS) specific to meet all safety requirements. |
| |
|
• |
A tank can normally burst only in the event of a fire in the car where the surrounding temperature exceeds 400-500 degrees centigrade, which again never happens in a car due to the presence of pressure relieving devices. |
| |
|
• |
The tank is fitted with multi function valves having safety fittings like safety Relief Valve, Excel Valve, Reversible Overflow Valves, Fusible Plug fitted on it. |
| |

| |
Q. |
Is it legal? |
| |
A. |
L.P.G./ C.N.G. as motor fuel is now legal, with the amendment of all statutory regulations, so the Indian Motor Vehicles Act, Motor Vehicles Rules, L.P.G./ C.N.G. Control Order etc. Vehicle need to use only approved brands of kits (Type approvals now being granted by the testing age and get the vehicle R.C book endorsed by the local R.T.O. the retro-fitment of L.P.G./ C.N.G. kits can be carried out only by authorized workshops approved by the Road Transport Authority (RTA) and the Transport department. |
| |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| |
Q. |
Procedure for approval with R.T.O.. |
| |
A. |
On getting your vehicle converted with an approved L.P.G./ C.N.G. conversion kit, the Retro-fitment centre will facilitate the endorsement in the vehicle R.C. book by the local R.T.O. This endorsement allows a legal use of the kit in your vehicle. |

| |
Q. |
How much mileage do I get after installing the Kit? |
| |
A. |
Though the mileage of a car running on an L. P. G. Kit would go down marginally (app. 5% to 8 fitted with a C.N.G. Kit would have an enhanced mileage of (app. 25% to 30%) but the custon ultimately benefits on the health of the engine.
Once the car crosses the 2000 kilometres' mark after the retrofitment is done, then the mileage improves dramatically as the carbon and acid deposits accumulated on the engine because of p< used as fuel earlier wear away, resulting in a healthier engine. |
| |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| |
Q. |
How is it's performance? |
| |
A. |
Very low emissions, no smoke, no compromise on the pick up. |
| |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| |
Q. |
Where is the tank placed in the car? |
| |
A. |
It is fixed in the boot of the car, fastened with a metal strap so that it does not move while running. As per BIS code it has to be a permanently fitted tank and should be an integral part of vehicle (As per BIS 14899 for fuel tank container and as per L.P.G./ C.N.G. control order.) |
| |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| |
Q. |
Will an excess load of tank effect my car suspension? |
| |
A. |
No, a car is designed to carry sufficient load. Moreover the weight of empty L.P.G./ C.N.G. to 60 Litres capacity weighs not more than 20 kilograms. |
| |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| |
Q. |
In a small car like Maruti will it not occupy my luggage space? |
| |
A. |
In smaller cars like a Maruti 800 and Zen, Stepny Torroidal tank (tank in the shape of a tyre) ca be installed, which will help to save luggage room. Alternately, smaller tanks of 36 litres are av; conserve the space. |
| |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| |
Q. |
In the event of any leakage will it explode? |
| |
A. |
As explained earlier the fuel tanks have several pressure relieving devices to avert any blast or explosions. This is demonstrated in bonfire tests where in the car is set on fire. The leaked prod the vent will jet out from the rear tyre but even after prolonged fire there are no explosions occ due to the provision of pressure relieving devices. The solenoid coil will automatically cut off the, supply even when the car is not in ignition mode. |
| |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| |
Q. |
In the event of any leakage, how can it be detected? |
| |
A. |
Ethyl Mercaptan is added in 20 PPM to Auto L.P.G. to detect the leakage. This is a safety feature at the time of installation a proper leakage test is done and a leakage free installation is ensured. |
| |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| |
Q. |
Do L.P.G./ C.N.G. & Petrol work in the same engine? (Dual fuel system) |
| |
A. |
Yes, L.P.G. and C.N.G. can be used in bi-fuel mode for which a selector switch is provided on dashboard, to activate Solenoid valves of either MS or L.P.G. |
| |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| |
Q. |
How will I know that I should refill the GAS? |
| |
A. |
The content gauge on the multi valve and the indicator on the switch shows the level of C.N.G./ L.P.G. inside the tank. |
| |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| |
Q. |
Will it affect my catalytic converter? |
| |
A. |
No, it will not damage any part of the engine or fuel system. There is no lead in L.P.G./ C.N.G |
| |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| |
Q. |
What if my car is more than 10 years old? |
| |
A. |
An L.P.G./ C.N.G. Kit can be fitted in any car model after 1992. Since the L.P.G./ C.N.G. on strong current availability from the coil, point, spark plugs and condenser we strongly recom change the above mentioned electrical fittings for optimum results. |
| |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| |
Q. |
Can we use C.N.G. kits and tanks on L.P.G. fuel and vice versa? |
| |
A. |
No. The properties and characteristics of L.P.G./ C.N.G. are different. The safety relief valves other devices vary. Also the tanks used are different. The fill connections are also different for
L.P.G./ C.N.G. Hence, it is not advisable to use C. N. G. kits for L. P. G. service and Vice verse. |
| |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| |
Q. |
Does one have to encounter serpentine queues as normally seen at the gas filling station L P. G./ C.N.G. ? |
| |
A. |
No. On the contrary for the convenience of the customers' convenience there are seperate queues private vehicles. The queues that are seen for the public utility vehicles. |
